CRKT Chogan T-Hawk Tactical Tomahawk

Several months ago I managed to get my hands on a Columbia River Knife and Tool Chogan T-Hawk Tactical Tomahawk.  Since I received the Chogan T-Hawk I have been putting this tool to good use and testing its durability in many ways.

Before I get into what I have used this tool for, let’s take a look at the technical aspects of this tool.  The CRKT Chogan T-Hawk is made from one piece of SK5 carbon steel and it has a flat black powder coat finish.  The overall length is 14 inches and it weighs in at 1 lb 8.6 oz.  The front blade has an axe edge and the back is a hammer.  The handle is curved with grip choils and has removable glass filled nylon grips.  This tool comes with a black kydex sheath that is compatible with MOLLE systems.
Tomahawks have been used as tools for working and self defense for hundreds if not thousands of years and it is no surprise that they are used today for the same purposes by our military, law enforcement personnel, and the sportsman.
Over the years I have had a few different tomahawks but none have been the quality of the Chogan T-Hawk.  If you are not familiar with tomahawks you might wonder what could anyone in today’s society need with such a barbaric tool, but there are tons of uses for such a tool and you are only limited by your imagination.
The military application of this tool is obvious.  It can be used as a tool for chopping or cutting but it also makes an outstanding weapon for close in hand to hand combat to kill the enemy.  Now with that said, one might wonder how this tool is applicable in the law enforcement community.  The Chogan T-Hawk makes a good light weight breaching tool that can be carried easily by officers into situations where they may need to force entry into a structure or a room, break out auto glass to rescue trapped persons, or pry something open.  The Chogan T-Hawk is also a good tool for the sportsman.  You can chop your fire wood, quarter up your game, and pound in tent stakes.  In short this is a very diverse tool that has an application for you no matter what you are doing.
When I got my Chogan T-Hawk I used it to break out safety glass, chop up lumber with nails, split small logs, chop down trees, and as a pry tool.  I used this tomahawk for just about everything I could think of.  The Chogan T-Hawk never let me down!  After putting this tomahawk through numerous tests I can tell you that this little tool has found a home in my tactical gear bag. The Chogan T-Hawk will also be heading to the woods with me this fall!  If you are in need of a small tool that can take on big tasks get you a CRKT Chogan T-Hawk and you will not be disappointed!
