CRKT Knive & Tools – Zilla Tool

Most companies end up producing a few quality products each year but there are not many companies out there that continually produce one quality product after another.  One such company that continues to produce quality products year after year is Columbia River Knife and Tool Company, CRKT.

I have been using CRKT products for the past seven years and as I write this product review I have a CRKT Carson M16 ZLEK knife in my left pocket.  I have yet to be disappointed in any of the CRKT products that I have.

When I am looking for knives and tools, I like to find something that has applications to everything that I do.  I work in the outdoor industry as well as in the Police/Tactical community.  CRKT makes knives and tools that are specialized for each industry but they also make some that can serve a duel role.  Three such CRKT products are the ZillaTool, the Elishewitz F.T.W.S., and the Razel SS7.

Let’s start with the ZillaTool.  This is a very useful bare bones multi tool.  I have several multi tools and some of them have everything but the kitchen sink in them but the ZillaTool has become my favorite multi tool.  Unlike most multi tools, the ZillaTool pliers are spring loaded and have a slight needle nose taper.  You can open the pliers or lock them with one hand.  At the base of the pliers there is a wire cutter.  The ZillaTool has a knife blade with a flipper so you can quickly open the blade with either hand.  The ZillaTool comes with a flat head and a phillips hex bit stored in the handle.  You can also use other hex bits with this tool.  The ZillaTool also has a stainless steel clip that will allow you to carry this tool in your pocket just like any knife with a pocket clip.  I now carry this tool in my right pocket and I have used it for everything from clearing weapon malfunctions on the firing line to tightening screws on my archery gear.  I never leave home without it.
